Volunteer Numbers Surge on GetInVOLved
Voluntary Norfolk’s GetInVOLved Platform Celebrates Major Milestone as Volunteer Engagement Surges
Voluntary Norfolk’s GetInVOLved platform, which connects residents with volunteering opportunities across the county, is proud to announce a significant milestone in its mission to support Norfolk communities.
The platform has now processed 2,019 accepted applications from individuals keen to volunteer, representing a major success in efforts to enhance community involvement. Additionally, GetInVOLved has seen over 8,000 registrations of interest from prospective volunteers.
Laura Holland, Voluntary Norfolk’s Volunteer Coordinator said:
“This success is a testament to the ongoing dedication of the wider voluntary, community and social enterprise sector in connecting people with meaningful roles within their local communities. It also highlights the growing desire among residents to give back and get involved across a variety of causes – everything from looking after animals to checking in on neighbours in need of a bit of extra support.”
Impressive Growth in 2024
The period from January to December 2024 has seen significant increases in registrations and activity across the GetInVOLved platform. Over the course of the year, the number of organisations registered on the platform has risen by 43%, with active organisations increasing by 29%. This growth reflects the expanding scope of opportunities available to volunteers and the increasing number of community groups and charities seeking to recruit volunteers through the platform.
Volunteer registrations have surged by an impressive 68% since January 2024, with ever increasing numbers of individuals signing up and actively seeking ways to contribute to their communities.
The number of applications to volunteering opportunities has also seen a remarkable 74% rise over the same period, further underscoring the platform’s growing role in facilitating community engagement.
Key Drivers of Success
A notable rise in activity has been observed since May 2024, which the team at Voluntary Norfolk attributes to several key initiatives and events. These include the highly successful Give it a Go extravaganza, which encouraged people to try out different volunteer roles, as well as the platform’s presence at the Royal Norfolk Show and other outreach efforts. The active support of Councillor Stuart Dark, Chairman of Norfolk County Council, and coverage in Your Norfolk magazine have also played a crucial role in boosting engagement.
Continued Commitment to Community Engagement
As of December 2024, GetInVOLved is supporting 7384 users, which includes 602 organisations and 6,782 volunteers, marking a 43% increase in organisational registrations and a 68% rise in individual volunteer sign-ups since the start of the year. The platform now hosts 1,841 live volunteering opportunities, reflecting the growing demand for volunteers and the wide array of roles available across Norfolk.
The number of applications to volunteering roles has also continued to rise, reaching 7,839 by early December – a 49% increase since May 2024.
With these milestones in place, Voluntary Norfolk remains committed to further expanding the GetInVOLved platform and enhancing its impact on communities throughout the county. The organisation will continue to work closely with local councils, charities, and community groups to ensure that volunteering remains an accessible and rewarding experience for all.
Voluntary Norfolk is excited to build on this momentum and continue driving volunteer engagement in 2025 and beyond. The GetInVOLved platform will remain a vital resource for anyone looking to make a difference in their community, offering diverse opportunities and a streamlined process for both volunteers and organisations.
