The Momentum team at Voluntary Norfolk had an inspiring day at the Big Norfolk Holiday Fun Event, held at the Wensum Valley Hotel, where providers came together to celebrate the success of this winter’s activities. It was a great opportunity for everyone involved to share stories, make connections, and reflect on how the programme has grown.

We heard some fantastic success stories from a local football club, a karate club, and the Whitlingham Outdoor Activity Centre. Each showing how their activities have positively impacted young people across Norfolk. But it wasn’t just the young people benefiting. The providers themselves shared how being involved in the Big Norfolk Holiday Fun has helped them develop more inclusive services.

One of the most inspiring moments came when some of the young people took the stage to talk about their experiences. Hearing first-hand how much these activities mean to them was truly heart-warming.

Helen Haynes, Voluntary Norfolk’s Momentum Service Manager, said:

“It was wonderful to meet and link up with so many providers who’ve embraced the programme. Several organisations have now signed up to our Youth Work Network and are interested in the Flourish Youth Awards we’re involved in. It was also really positive to hear directly from the young people who’ve gained so much from it. What really stood out was how providers are becoming more inclusive. The karate club’s story was especially meaningful. They’ve recently launched a new class for young people with SEND, and the staff have really benefited from the training. It’s opened up new opportunities for these young people, which is fantastic to see.”

As the event wrapped up, it was clear that both providers and participants were excited about what’s to come. Many are looking forward to continuing to grow and reach even more young people in the future.
